The authors provide a number of proposals for achieving socioeconomic equality
between the races. How and in what ways does everyone benefit from living in a society
where there is greater social equality? As you read each suggestion, ask yourself if you
believe that these calls for greater social justice are politically possible. Would most
Americans sign on to these plans to create a more just society? If it seems as though
their proposal might be too difficult to implement, what would you do to convince the
public that achieving racial equality would benefit all of society?
