Wynia, and Osborn (2011) explained the Methods that need to be used in order reduce the barriers for patients in health literacy which includes having clearer forms, staff training in clear communication techniques, teach back methods and reinforcement. At times I personally have experienced some confusion within my health care provider. Due to English been my second language, I find myself getting easily confused and not having a clearer understanding of the instructions nor the medical terms that’s being used. By the end of my appointment I tend to hesitate to ask question as I fill embarrassed to ask. Hence, I end up leaving without having a clear understanding or what are the consequences of consuming the medication that’s been given to me.
