Person-centred care essay

You are required to undertake a patient interview during your current PEP. You will then write an essay to showcase your understanding of patient/client centred care, and underpinning theoretical knowledge. You will need to conduct an interview with your chosen patient/client with their informed consent. You will need to discover the persons understanding of their disease process/treatment and their level of involvement and engagement with their plan of care.

You will be required to critique and analyse the person’s journey in conjunction with best practice evidence around person-centred care to underpin their narrative and where applicable, determine where improvements to the patient/client experience could be made by the care providers.

You are essentially providing information on whether person-centred care for a patient/client is evident from the patient/clients perspective and how this perception could be improved by care providers. You are not required to provide or submit this to your PEP facility.

You will need to keep detailed notes on your PEP experience and interview with the identified person so that you can complete your assessment task even if the client leaves your designated area of PEP. You will need to provide the notes from your interview as an appendix to your essay.
