Portfolio Structure
The portfolio should have:
• A cover page which consist of a title, the unit detail and the student’s detail including
the group number.
• An executive summary summarising the portfolio.
• A content page with page numbers.
• An introduction to the unit and the portfolio.
• Responses to learning outcomes listed below:
LO1. Apply a systematic approach to engineering design;
LO2. Find, organise and evaluate information on a range of topics related to problems in
engineering design;
LO 3. Identify and evaluate technical, environmental, social and economic factors impacting on
the solution of engineering design problems;
LO 4. Use computer-aided design (CAD) software to develop and present design solutions;
LO 5. Communicate effectively with others orally, in writing and by means of engineering
drawings;
LO 6. Demonstrate an ability to learn individually and collaboratively in a team environment;
LO 7. Use a personal reflective journal and demonstrate improvements in their effectiveness as
learners;
LO 8. Respond to diverse learning situations in a socially and culturally responsible manner.
Each of the above LO needs to be addressed separately giving strong evidence of how the LO was
achieved. Roughly half to a page long. Please refer to the portfolio marking guide for further
detail.

• An appendix which may include the following:
 A copy of each technical report submitted during the semester
 Sample CAD drawings.
 Any other materials referred as evidence in LO
 The 12 weeks reflective journals.
