First Rubric Question

Compare the difference between job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Determine which is more strongly related to performance for your selected company.

Be sure to define the terms, ‘job satisfaction’ and ‘organizational commitment.’ Then share, based on cited material, which element (job satisfaction or organizational commitment) has more of a positive impact on job performance for the same company that you wrote about in Week 3 and reasons why you feel that way, again, based on solid research findings about the organization.

[For example, Company X’s employee turnover is high because employees do not feel valued. Consequently, their organizational commitment is low. However, some employees have high job satisfaction because they love their work and are high performers, as a result, and that’s why they stay with the organization. Another option is that employees may leave the organization to find work just as satisfying, especially if they feel more of a commitment to their new company. Usually, they are more committed based on how they feel treated by their direct managers. Perhaps their managers roll up their sleeves and help where needed, no matter how difficult the tasks, or they simply have empathy and ask them how they are feeling and demonstrate that they really care. Perhaps they also provide lots of different valuable motivational incentives].

Second Rubric Question

Evaluate your selected company in light of both motivational theory and performance management principles to determine if it is a place you would like to work.

This is where many students lose points because they don’t include all of these aspects. Be sure to thoroughly discuss the motivational theory that you believe embodies your chosen organization. Go into detail about it and cite your material. That provides the reader with a better understanding when you discuss the organization and the actual performance management actions that your chosen company enacts on a daily basis to make it successful. Now, perhaps you realize that the company must improve in this area based on the actual motivational theory. Maybe there isn’t one! Then, feel free to describe the motivational theory that you feel the organization would benefit from incorporating into their culture and the corresponding performance management actions that should follow to create a more dynamic and united workforce focused on excellence!

[For example, Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs Theory may be more appropriate, so provide all of the details related to this theory. Your Soomo web text has lots of different theories that may be selected, so be sure to read that section. Then, note the similarities with the organization that you discussed in Week 3’s writing assignment, based on practices that are discussed about the company. You can find out a lot of information about performance management principles (what they do and how they treat their employees) in their Annual Report or on their Official Website. You can also learn a lot from news articles about the organization’s practices. Google the company name and type in key words related to your topic.
