1.Discussion of the disorder: symptoms, behaviors, etc.
Describe what symptoms and behaviors are involved. What does the disorder look like when an individual
has been diagnosed with the disorder?
2. Familial, Societal, Cultural and Developmental Implications
Discuss how societal and cultural factors might impact whether or not a person develops this disorder.
Discuss the disorder in terms of the developmental life-span. At what point is a person more or less likely
to develop the disorder at various times in life?
If not all of these implications relate to your topic, be sure to expand your work in the areas that are
relevant (for example, if developmental implications don’t relate to your topic, write more for familial,
societal, and cultural implications).
3. Causes
Discuss what experts feel might be causes of the disorder.
4. Biological Treatment
First, define what is meant by Biological Treatments.
Discuss how this disorder might be treated using Biological treatments. If Biological treatments aren’t
appropriate, explain why.
5. Behavioral Treatment
First, define what is meant by Behavioral Treatments.
Discuss what Behavioral techniques might be used to treat the disorder. If Behavioral treatments aren’t
appropriate, explain why.
6. Cognitive Treatment
First, define what is meant by Cognitive Treatments.
Discuss what specific Cognitive Therapy techniques might be used to treat the disorder. If Cognitive
treatments aren’t appropriate, explain why.

7. Quality of Sources
On source can be your textbook, but you will need to provide two additional scholarly sources.
It’s confusing determining what is meant by a scholarly source. That’s why I want you to read this
additional hand-out: Understanding Which Sources are Appropriate for Research Papers (and Where to
Find Them) found here in the General Course Content folder. Don’t neglect reading this important
document!

8. Writing/APA Skills
Be sure you are writing in a scholarly manner. If you are uncertain about what that means, check an APA
guide for style.
Please submit only proofread documents. Plan to allow yourself enough time to proofread (or better yet,
have a peer/professional help you (UIU’s Writing Center is available to all Online students) and submit.
Looking for approximately 1200 words (this is not including the references, title page, headers, etc.).
This should be about five pages.

One-inch margins all around
Double-spaced
No need for an Abstract
If you are uncertain about APA specifics, please double-check the APA source you noted on the W1

Please remember to include APA in-text citations whenever you are discussing something that is not your
own, original idea. The general rule of thumb is at least one citation per paragraph for most paragraphs.
Please remember to include an APA References page for all cited references.
