COLLAPSE

I believe that the longest lasting legacy of the US Cival War Era are the three amendments that were changed after the end of the Civil War. The 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments were the biggest movements changing the laws of how our country is allowed to treat minorities and slavery. These amendments stand strong today to support the proper treatment of black people, white people, and any other citizens of the United States. Before these amendments were created, if you weren’t a white male you would have little to no rights or legal standings. These Civil Rights Acts changed the way the United States legally was allowed to treat people. While not all the rights we have today were created during 1855-1875 these rights created the base of laws and protections many people have today.
