Child development Discussions.

Child development Discussions.

The goal of this assignment is to encourage you to integrate your notes on genetics by answering
questions on a video about feral children. After watching the video posted on feral children, answer
the questions below. You must upload your answers via Brightspace by the specified due date. Your
document should be uploaded in PDF or WORD format only. Make sure to include your name and
student number on your submission. Your answer for each question should be no more than 1
paragraph.
1.The video suggests that the feral children case studies provide us a window into understanding the
role of genes and environment in human development. Explain why. Be specific in your answer, using
your notes on nature and nurture. Explain what the nature vs nurture issue is, then explain how feral
children provide us with information on this debate. (4 marks)

2.Using one of the case studies discussed in the video, explain how the concept of early experience
applies to your chosen case. Be specific giving examples from the case. It should be clear in your
answer that you understand how early experience influences development using specific examples of
your case. (3 marks)

3.Choosing a different case from question #2, explain how the critical period OR sensitive period
applies to an area of development. It should be clear from your answer that you understand what a
critical or sensitive period is, giving specific reference to an area of development discussed in the case
study. (3 marks).

4. Choosing a different case from questions # 2 & # 3 relate one of the cases to a theory of child
development we talked about (chpt. 1 e.g. psychoanalytic, biological, learning etc. ). Explain why
early deprivation has impacted development from that theory's perspective. Use specific examples from
the case to support your theory. State what your theory is and give a (very brief) explanation of the key
ideas in that theory (more than 2-3 sentences for this). (5 marks)
