Delta Airlines is a major airline based in the United States with its headquarters and main hub being located at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, in Atlanta, Georgia. The airline has an extensive international network that enables it to carry thousands of passengers domestically and internationally through its more than 15,000 flights daily, thus exposing it to international and external security threats (Delta, 2016).

According to data provided by the International Air Traffic Association (2013), the airline ferried 94,712 passengers inside the United States and 116,726 passengers internationally, thus ranking it second and first in the number of scheduled passengers it had carried respectively. Its major hub located at the Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson Airport is faced by a medium level security risk from terrorism, which could result in fatalities of passengers and workers. People who have undergone ideological radicalization who might include jihadists and other political hardliners as well as domestic criminals, can execute terror attacks by killings of innocent people to advance their course

  1. A list of Crime statistics, obtained from the Police.
